| After canvassing your neighborhood and still no sign of your pet, here are some things you can do: 1. Call all local veterinaries and even those that are in neighboring counties. Give them a description of your dog/cat, age, breed, color, sex and name, and where he/she was last seen. Leave your contact information in case someone brings your dog/cat to the vet clinic. Continue to check back with these vets. 2. Contact your local animal control office giving them the same information as you gave the vet clinics. And continue to check back with the animal control office. You can even give them a flyer. 3. Make a flyer with your pet's photograph and your contact information. Include on the flier: your telephone number, your pet's name, sex, color, breed and the date your pet went missing. You can post these fliers at your local Vet clinics, pet grooming salons, telephone poles, and local rescue shelters. You can also put these ON mailboxes: attach between the flag and the mailbox but NEVER place inside the mailbox! 4. If your pet is micro chipped, call that lost pet company immediately and let them know your pet is missing! 5. Check in the early morning hours or the evening when it is quiet. Take a flashlight and food to the place where your pet got lost and see if he will show up again. If your pet is an INDOOR cat put a litter box outside, DO NOT clean it out. It will have her scent and can help her find her way home! Ask your neighbor's to check their garages for or basements for your lost cat. Often they will sneak in and the door shuts. 6. Email Best friends at: animalhelp@bestfriends.org or call them at (435) 644-2001, ext. 123. They can notify their network members who in turn can also put out fliers and forward the email request. If you have email, be sure to email your family and friends and have them forward your email onward! 7. Place an ad in your local paper and be sure to title it : LOST and give your pet's information, name, sex, color, breed and your phone number. You can also check your paper for FOUND. Also check neighboring newspapers! 8. Never give up! Pets have been know to be found months after they went missing! |
