They run about $20.00 plus shipping and handling . 3. The safest route is a Microchip. What is this? It is a chip about the size of a grain of rice that is injected under your pet's skin. Does it hurt? No. More and more vet's today are getting the equipment necessary to read these chips should a homeless pet be brought to them. There is a one time fee to implant the chip and a yearly fee to the company that keeps your records and contact information. This fee varies.
